Use the Job Age Checker in your AI assistant
The Job Age Checker is also a remote MCP server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any client that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP, then ask about a job link in your chat. You get the date the job was first posted, how many days ago that was, and whether the posting is still listed.
It is free, needs no account and no API key, and has one read-only tool. Server URL: https://cursu.ai/mcp
Add it to Claude
- In Claude (web or desktop), open Settings, then Connectors.
- Choose Add custom connector. Name it "Cursu Job Age Checker" and paste
https://cursu.ai/mcpas the URL. Leave the authentication settings empty. - In a chat, turn the connector on from the tools menu, then paste a job link and ask when it was posted.
In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http cursu https://cursu.ai/mcp.
Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan. Claude's help center lists which plans have them.
Add it to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, open Settings, then Apps, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
- Create an app with
https://cursu.ai/mcpas the MCP server URL and no authentication. - In a chat, add the app from the tools menu and ask about a job link.
Developer mode depends on your ChatGPT plan. OpenAI's help center lists which plans have it.
Add it to Cursor, VS Code or another client
Cursor: add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project):
{ "mcpServers": { "cursu": { "url": "https://cursu.ai/mcp" } } }
VS Code: add this to .vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "cursu": { "type": "http", "url": "https://cursu.ai/mcp" } } }
Other clients: add a remote server with the Streamable HTTP transport and the URL https://cursu.ai/mcp. No headers or keys are needed. Clients that connect from their own servers or from your computer work this way. A client that runs inside a web page works only if it is one of the hosted assistants above. If yours is refused, email support@cursu.ai with its name.
What to ask
- "When was this job posted?" followed by the company's job link.
- "Is this job still open?" followed by the link.
- "Check these three job links and tell me which is the oldest."
Use the company's own job link: its careers page or its hiring system (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday and others). LinkedIn and Indeed links are refused. Find the apply link that goes to the company's own site and use that instead.
What the tool returns
One tool, check_job_posting_age, takes a job link and returns:
- the date the job was first posted, and its age in days,
- a last-updated date, where the hiring system gives one,
- the status: active when checked, closed or no longer listed, or unknown,
- where the date came from, and a link to the full result on cursu.ai/check.
When the checker can't find a date or a status, it says so. It doesn't guess. A date shows how old a posting is and whether it is still listed. It doesn't show whether the company still plans to hire. For how to read the dates, see how to tell when a job was actually posted.
Limits and privacy
- The tool is read-only. It reads the posting once and caches the result for up to a day, so repeat checks of the same link make no new request to the company.
- Checks are rate limited per network address, and hosted assistants share addresses, so a busy day can return "Rate limit reached". The message says how many seconds to wait. Ask again after that.
- The server has no accounts and receives only the job link, not your chat. Its check log stores the hiring system, dates and status, not the link. Read the privacy policy for details.
